Abstract
The tutorial extends and deepens the contents presented in the lecture. Functions provided by middleware solutions such as CORBA will be used to realize small distributed applications, with interacting components written in different programming languages. This will allow to assess the advantages and disadvantages of corresponding integration strategies. Approaches for implementing workflow-based service orchestrations will be presented and evaluated. This will include the Business Process Execution Language (WS-BPEL) and Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) language. Based on this technological foundation, workflow management systems for the support of dynamic integration in the context of business processes will be covered. Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA) and Web Services are widely regarded as a key technology for realizing loosely coupled and process-oriented information systems. The tutorial will investigate this claim in detail by closely looking at concrete technologies and tools available for SOA, including the Web Service Description Language (WSDL).

didaktisches Konzept
The tutorial is designed as a combination of exercises, team work, case studies, group discussions, and presentations. Active participation is encouraged. Participants will access server-based software online to get personally acquainted with the tools.
